What if all your cloud apps were down tomorrow? Google Reader (down), Delicious, Gmail (including all your calendars, and whatever they serve), Evernote. Everything gone. Without a warning. Your data is gone. Forever. How would that feel?

The recent shutdown announcement of Google Reader has a very good point. It’s another thought-provoking impulse to self-host your applications.

Do you want to wait for the next “impulse” to hit your sensitive data? Self-hosting can’t be a bad trend for the future of the web.
